Women's Soccer Visits Redlands In SCIAC Battle

Box Score

REDLANDS, Calif. (Sept. 17, 2022) - Facing their fourth consecutive game away from campus, and second to kick off the 2022 SCIAC slate, the women's soccer team traveled to the University of Redlands to take on the Bulldogs Saturday morning.

Benefiting from several tough matches in the nonconference schedule, the Beavers played level with the Bulldogs and went to halftime tied 0-0.  Unfortunately, the Beavers weren't able to push ahead in the second half, while conceeding two goals to fall 0-2.  With the defeat, the Beavers are now 2-2-2, (0-2-0 SCIAC) on the year.

"While we are never happy coming up short on the scoreboard, I'm very pleased with the way we've competed so far this year, especially here at the start of SCIAC competition," Head Coach Jen Clark said. "Redlands is a talented team and so are we, but they got the better of us in the second half today."

While the Beavers conceded goals in the 56th and 60th minutes, the level score at half time and the effort they demonstrated pushing forward coming out of the half demonstrates their shared committed to continual improvement.

The Beavers were out shot on the afternoon 12 shots to two, while a trio of Caltech goalkeepers made a total of six saves. Redlands also had more than twice as many corner kicks as did the Beavers, as the hosts took seven while Caltech had three restarts from the corner spot.

Next up for the Beavers is a home matchup with Pomona-Pitzer on Saturday, September 24. The match against the Sagehens begins at 11 AM and is open to the public. To live stream or follow live stats, please do so at www.GoCaltech.com.
