PASADENA, Calif. – The Caltech women's tennis team faced its toughest opponent yet on Thursday morning, taking on national No. 6 Middlebury College.
The visiting Panthers set the tone earl;y by sweeping the doubles session, but the Beavers continued to success in singles play, claiming four of the six singles matches.
Yoyo Benchetrit continued her success in secondn singles, conceding just two games to her opponent, before playing a nearly flawless second set. the 6-2, 6-0.
Middlebury matched that result with their own singles win, but then
Anika Arora prevailed in her singles matchup, sneaking by with a 7-5, 6-4 win.
And then Caltech claimed match points in the last two singles pairings, with
Anna Szczuka prolonging her undefeated start with a 6-1, 6-3 win, and then
Payal Patel rebounded from a second set loss to blast through the deciding third set for the win. Her final scores were 6-3, 0-6, 6-1.

Benay Weintraub and the Beavers commence SCIAC play next week, as they are slated to hit the road and face the No. 5 Pomona-Pitzer Sagehens on Tuesday, Mar. 28. at 6 p.m.
