Women's Tennis Nabs Four Singles Wins at Chapman

ORANGE, Calif. – Reflecting the team's culture of stepping up to support the team and one another, Caltech Women's Tennis adjusted and picked up four singles wins in Saturday afternoon's match against SCIAC rival Chapman University.

Playing in their second match in as many days, the Beavers fought hard despite the circumstances and rebounded in the singles session after the host Panthers started off the day with a sweep of the doubles session.

Sophomore Anika Arora moved up from her usual spot, claiming a come-from-behind win in the second singles pairing, rebounding from a 6-1 opening set to win the next two by 6-4 and 6-2 scores. Covering Arora's familiar court was senior Nina Solovyeva on Court 3, who triumphed after splitting the first two sets, 6-4, 3-6, 6-2.

First-year Anna Szczuka continued her remarkable season with a win in the #5 Singles, edging her opponent by 6-4 and 7-5 set scores for her first win in that position and her seventh of the 2023 campaign.

And finally junior Teresa Huang crushed her singles debut, covering Szczuka's familiar spot in #6 Singles with a 6-2, 6-4 victory.

Head Coach Benay Weintraub and the Beavers return home on Tuesday, Apr. 11 to host Claremont-Mudd-Scripps at 2 p.m.
