SAN MARCOS, Calif. — Junior
Rohun Agrawal (Cupertino, Calif. / Monta Vista) of Caltech Men's Track & Field broke the school record in the 10,000-meters on Friday night, crossing the line at 30 minutes and 33.34 seconds to cement his name in the program history books.
The race — which served as the final event of the Mangrum Invitational in San Marcos — saw 27 athletes competing; Agrawal finished runner-up overall. The star missed out on the victory by just .82 seconds.
Agrawal was helped in large part by teammate
Joey Litvin (Ardmore, Pa. / Lower Merion), a senior who paced his fellow Beaver perfectly through 6,000 meters, setting him up for excellence across the final 4K. Agrawal's record time of 30:33.34 beat the previous record of 31:06.83, set by Litvin himself in May of 2023.
Agrawal
broke the school record in the 5,000-meter distance earlier this season (14:23.33); he currently sits at No. 7 all-time in the 1500m.
Senior
Ezra Johnson (Colombus, Ohio / Columbus Academy) also competed at the Mangrum Invite as he took on two field events; the thrower posted a 12.98m (42' 7") result in the shot put to beat out multiple Div. II athletes and earned a 35.26m (115' 8") mark in the discus.
