Caltech men's and women's cross country achieved notable results at NCAA regionals in Claremont Saturday, with the men placing 6th out of 23 teams and the women placing 11th out of 21 teams.
Sophomore Stephen Goehringer (Wellesley, Mass. / Wellesley), Senior Gigi Pistilli (Portola Valley, Calif. / Woodside) and sophomore Katelyn Sadorf (Boca Raton, Fla. / Spanish River) each earned All-Region honors for finishing in the amongst the top 35 runners in their races.
The 6th-place finish for the men ties their best in program history, set in 2023. Caltech men finished the 8k course in an average time of 26:40. Goehringer led the pack for the Beavers finishing 32nd out of 172 runners (26:17.6). Junior Ryan Fortin (Londonderry, N.H. / Londonderry ) finished 38th with a time of 26:26.9, improving by 30 places from the same race last year. Sophomore Aditya Pakal (The Woodlands, Texas / The John Cooper School) placed 44th (26:38.4), an improvement of 46 places from his 2024 race.
The Beaver women ran the 6k course in an average time of 24:21. Pistilli and Sadorf finished 32nd and 33rd with times of 6:10.1 and 6:11.3, respectively. Pistilli improved six spots from her finish last year while Sadorf improved 133 places from 2024. Senior Camilla Power (Edmonds, Wash. / Saint James) ran the race in 24:41.8 finishing in 83rd place, an improvement of nine places from 2024. Senior Elisa Grillo (Cypress, Texas / Bridgeland) improved 32 places from her 2024 race, finishing with a time of 6:48.8
