The SCIAC named a Beaver infielder and a Caltech pitcher to the second team All-SCIAC after each posted an incredible season for the Institute.
Senior infielder
Jack Fishel (Baltimore, Md. / Boys' Latin School of Maryland) and junior RHP Brendon Flaherty (Narragansett, RIÂ / Lake Forest Academy), received the accolades. Fishel occasionally pitches as well, but is primarily an infielder. Flaherty is primarily a pitcher, but also plays in the field for Caltech. Both players can swing the bat, with a combined batting average of over .300.Â
Flaherty, the program record-holder for a single-season ERA, led Caltech in wins (4) and ERA (4.36) in 2025. His 80.2 innings pitched led SCIAC, demonstrating his reliability. He also froze hitters on strike three 30 times this season, more than any other pitcher in the conference.Â
Fishel had a career year at the plate for the Beavers. He led the team in virtually every major batting category with the exception of RBIs and home runs. No Beaver had more doubles, triples, total bases or hits than Fishel. His three triples rank in the top 10 of a conference that includes two top-20 teams in the country. Fishel also stole 12 bases and was caught stealing only three times.
The Beavers will look to build on an exciting year that saw Caltech Baseball gain attention from awards voters. As the Institure looks to carry momentum into 2026, keep an eye out for a full season recap.
