Rachel Viollet Joins Caltech Women's Tennis as Head Coach

PASADENA, Calif. – The Caltech Department of Athletics, Recreation and Instruction welcomes Rachel Viollet as the new Head Coach of Caltech Women's Tennis.

"I am extremely honored to be a part of such an esteemed academic institution, and I can't wait to coach such a remarkable group of young women," said Viollet of her new chapter. "I want to thank Caltech Athletic Director, Terry Tumey and the search committee for entrusting me to lead the Caltech Women's Tennis Program."

Viollet brings to the Beavers a vast breadth of experience gained from an illustrious career spanning the globe and multiple levels of amateur and professional tennis. As a Psychology and Communications double-major at the University of Miami, she was a four-year letter-winner playing #1 Singles and Doubles, earning NCAA All-American honors.
In 2007 Viollet was inducted into The University of Miami Sports Hall of Fame.

Following graduation, Rachel competed professionally in challenger level tournaments to WTA Tour events, Wimbledon, the U.S. Open and the Australian Open, while still serving as an assistant coach for her alma mater's men's and women's tennis teams from 1998–2000. Rachel also represented her native Great Britain in the prestigious Federation Cup.

More recently, Viollet served as the Director of Tennis at The Brentwood School after years of running camps, tournaments, USTA Junior teams, and her own tennis academy.

Caltech Women's Tennis, currently ranked No. 33 in the national D3 polls, opens its regular season on Thursday, Feb. 19 in a home match against Bates College.
