PASADENA, Calif. – Caltech Women's Water Polo recognized
Mike Vicic on the Braun Pool deck before Saturday morning's home game against Occidental College.
Vicic serves Caltech as a Teaching Professor in Chemical Engineering as well as the Faculty Liaison for Caltech water polo student-athletes. In the words of Head Coach

Mike Vicic has been an outstanding advocate for our student-athletes, generously offering lab tours, advising support, and maintaining an active and visible presence in support of our program. He cares deeply about our student-athletes and truly appreciates the dedication and excellence they demonstrate both in the pool and in the classroom."

Mahi Ravi commended Vicic for his thoughtful effort into designing meaningful problem sets, his support of students in and out of the classroom, and for teaching without lexture notes, which she described as a "major flex."
In February 2025, Vicic was awarded the
Shirley M. Malcom Prize for Excellence in Mentoring for his exemplary support of Caltech students' achievement and well-being.
