Pomona-Pitzer Prevents Caltech from Season Sweep

CLAREMONT, Calif. – Pomona-Pitzer exacted a measure of revenge by posting a 3-0 win over Caltech Saturday afternoon at the Rains Center soccer field.

Earlier in the season the Beavers (1-13) posted a 2-1 win over their SCIAC foe at Caltech.

The Sagehens got on the board in the 17th minute when Danny Nasry scored a goal off a feed from Harris Levin. That was the lone goal in the first half as the home team went into halftime with a 1-0 lead.

Pomona-Pitzer (5-9) got their second goal as Gator Halpern found the back of the net as Levin posted his second assist of the afternoon. Andrew Metzler put an insurance goal on the board when he scored off a Nasry corner kick with just over 10 minutes left in the contest.

Pomona-Pitzer recorded a 24-8 edge in total shots and a 6-0 advantage in corner kicks.

Marcus Lucas fought through injury to tally six saves in goal for Caltech. Rollie Thayer got the win in goal for the Sagehens by posting three saves.
