Caltech Drops Heart Breaker to LaVerne

LAVERNE, Calif. – Looking to build on momentum from an early week victory, the Caltech men's soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision to SCIAC foe LaVerne on Wednesday afternoon.

The game's lone goal came in the 67th minute when Angel Da Alba scored on a penalty kick.

Although the Leopards (6-9-1, 7-7 SCIAC) put 14 shots on goal compared to Caltech's three, Marcus Lucas came up big with 13 saves on the afternoon. LaVerne held a 34-9 advantage in total shots.

Alex Wein had a team high three shots, including two shots on goal. Jonathan Yeung had the Beavers other shot on goal but LaVerne goalie Jonathyn Lomeli turned each one away in posting the win.

The Leopards took eight corner kicks to Caltech's (2-14, 1-12 SCIAC) one as the visitors were looking to avenge a five goal defeat early in the season to LaVerne.
