PASADENA, Calif. – After a first half in which Caltech's defense bent but didn't break, Claremont Mudd-Scripps scored five second half goals en route to a 6-0 win on Saturday afternoon in a SCIAC men's soccer match-up.
In the first 45 minutes the Staggs were able to get 13 shots off but only found the back of the net when Harrison Doyle beat Caltech goalie Marcus Lucas one-on-one after a pass from Ian Anderson in the game's 20th minute.
Anderson started the CMS (12-3-2, 10-2-2) second half scoring when he blasted a shot from the right side in the 48th minute. Jared Bernstein continued the momentum with a goal less than 10 minutes later when he took a feed from David Taylor and put a shot into the back of the net from 15 yards out.
Walker Adams came off the bench to score the fourth goal at exactly the 64-minute mark. Rodrigo Bravo-Beneitez got into the scoring action when he scored off a rebounded shot that Lucas couldn't quite coral with just under 15 minutes left in the game. Adams rounded out the scoring with a goal in the 89th minute from 10 yards out.
The visitors posted a 25-3 shot advantage over Caltech (2-17, 1-13). The Staggs took 10 corner kicks compared to the Beavers two.
It was the final home game of the season for Caltech. It was the last home for seniors Tyler Hannasch, Alan Pezeshki, Dongjin Seo, Grayson Chadwick, Thomas Lampo, Jonathan Yeung.
