Bravo-Beneitez's Hat Trick Leads CMS Past Caltech

CLAREMONT, Calif. -- Rodrigo Bravo-Beneitez scored a hat trick and assisted on another goal as Claremont-Mudd-Scripps posted an 8-0 win over Caltech on Monday afternoon at John Pritzlaff Field.

The Stags struck first in the 11th minute when David Taylor scored on a Bravo-Beneitez pass. The same duo switched roles 12 minutes later when Bravo-Beneitez put his first goal on the board 12 minutes later from a Taylor feed. The final goal of the opening frame came in the 25th minute when Harrison Doyle scored off an assists from Zach Doran.

Bravo-Beneitez finished his hat trick early in the second half when he scored goals in the 48th and 53rd minutes to give the Stags a 5-0 advantage. The Stags reserves got into the action as the final three goals came from a non-starter. Eric Bean scored in the 61st minute while John Shaughnessy (75th minute) and Tony Garcia (88th minute) finished the scoring on the afternoon.

Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, who entered the game in second place in the SCIAC standings, posted a 25-6 edge in total shots while notching a 12-2 edge in corner kicks.

The game was originally scheduled for Oct. 5 but heavy rains in the area forced the postponement of the contest.
