PASADENA, Calif. -- Chapman placed 13 different players in the scoring column en route to an 18-4 win over Caltech Friday evening in a non-conference women's water polo contest.
Caltech held the No. 7 Panthers to one goal in the opening eight minutes of action. However, Chapman scored three goals in the first three minutes of the second quarter in taking a 4-0 lead. The home squad got on the board when Hanna Dodd found the back of the with 4:55 left until halftime. The Panthers scored two unanswered goals in taking a 6-1 lead at intermission.
In the third quarter Chapman slowely pulled away. Karen Dowling score Caltech's second goal of the contest with 5:01 left in the quarter to bring the Beavers within 8-2. However, the Panthers went on to score three of the game's next four goals in taking an 11-3 edge into the final quarter.
The Panthers put to rest any hopes of Caltech comeback away by outscoring the home squad 7-1 in the final frame.
Caltech's four goals came from Dodd, Dowling, Erin Hoops and Caitlin Regan.
Briana Hawkins was Chapman's leading goal scorer as the sophomore posted a hatrick.
