Caltech Hosts Whittier in Final Home Game

PASADENA, Calif. -- During the final home game of the season, the Caltech women's water polo team dropped a 24-3 decision to Whittier on Saturday afternoon.

The game also marked the final home contest for a trio of Beaver players as Peggy Allen, Stacy Levine and Kati Peters suited up one last time.

Both teams will head to the SCIAC Championships next weekend. The eight-team event will be played in Claremont, Calif.

Whittier, the No. 5 team in the nation, jumped out by scoring the game's first six goals. The Beavers got on the board with 15 seconds left in the first quarter when Caitlin Regan found the back of the net. The Poets stretched their lead by outscoring the Beavers 6-1 in the second quarter.

The visitors continued their scoring push by outscoring the Beavers 11-1 during the final 16 minutes of action to seal the victory.

Veronica Becerra led the Poets offensive charge by scoring a team best four goals.

Regan had a team high two goals while Hanna Dodd added one for the Beavers.

Peters set a SCIAC personal season high with 13 saves in goal.
