Second Half Goals Give Chapman Win

ORANGE, CA – For 53 minutes Caltech hung tough with Chapman, but a pair of second half goals gave the Chapman men's soccer team a 2-0 win on Saturday night.

The game remained scoreless in the first half despite Chapman outshooting Caltech (0-15, 0-14) 11-4. Goalie Wesley Swank, who had eight saves, blocked four shots in the first half for Caltech to keep the contest scoreless after 45 minutes.

During the first half the Beavers took two corner kicks but were unable to fire a shot on goal from those opportunities.

In the 54th minute, Chapman got its first goal of the game when Duncan Capriotti scored on a header off a corner from Nick Echeverry. Less than 15 minutes later, Chapman scored an insurance goal when Echeverry scored off an assist from sophomore F Gabe Recht-Appel.

Caltech attempted seven shots on the night with four coming in the second half but were unable to put a shot on goal. Thomas Kwok attempted a team-high two shots for Caltech.

The Beavers play their final road game of the season on Monday evening when they travel to Whittier for a 7 p.m. kick-off with the Poets.
