WHITTIER, Calif. -- A strong defensive effort in the middle period aided Cal Lutheran to an 18-3 win over Caltech at the SCIAC Championships on Saturday afternoon.
The Regals grabbed a 6-2 lead after the first eight minutes. A pair of goals by Hanna Dodd kept the Beavers in the game early on.
However, Cal Lutheran proceeded to win the second and third periods by shutting down the Caltech offense. The Regals won the second eight minutes of action 4-0 as they took a commanding 10-2 lead at the intermission.
The Regals defense continued their strong play as they kept Caltech off the board until 19 seconds left in the contest when Janis Intoy found the back of the net for her 11th goal of the season.
Cal Lutheran spread the offense around as 12 different players found the back of the cage.
Caltech will conclude their season on Sunday morning at 10 a.m. against La Verne.
