Caltech overcame a thin squad last season despite its lack of collegiate experience. Then-freshman Grace Yao (La Palma, Calif. / Oxford Acad.) led the team with a 9-8 overall record, while rising sophomore Erin Wang (Auburn, Calif. / Del Oro) matched her win total at 9-9, including a team-best four victories in SCIAC play. Both doubles teams of Yao/sophomore Vinci Chen (Austin, Texas / Westwood) and Wang/junior Sophia Chen (Newport Beach, Calif. / Corona Del Mar) recorded five wins last spring, with the Yao/Vinci pairing earning a team-high three in the SCIAC.
Gamble and the Beavers will participate in this weekend's USTA/ITA Division III West Regional Championships in Claremont, Calif. More information can be found here.
