PASADENA, Calif. (Mar. 25, 2015) – Sophomore Mary Boyajian (Sun Valley, Calif. / Village Christian) netted her first goal of the season as the Caltech women's water polo team opened SCIAC play hosting the University of La Verne on Wednesday evening.

The Leopards surged to an early lead that proved insurmountable, winning 18-2 to improve to 3-9 overall and 1-1 in the SCIAC.  The Beavers are now 0-11 (0-1).

La Verne scored eight unanswered goals in the first period before junior Soumya Kannan (Palo Alto, Calif. / Henry M Gunn) tallied the Beavers' first on an extra-man opportunity.  Boyajian struck for another extraman goal later in the period but La Verne led 14-2 at halftime and went on to score two goals in each of the final periods.

Head Coach Pat Beemer and the Beavers will host the University of Redlands (2-21, 0-2) on Saturday, Mar. 28 at 11:00 a.m.
