LA VERNE, Calif. (Oct. 14, 2017) – Led by sophomore forward Kevin Yu (Park Ridge, N.J. / Park Ridge), the Caltech men's soccer team generated a multitude of offensive opportunities at the University of La Verne on Saturday evening.

Among the Beavers' top attacking options, Yu took six shots, four of which found a path to the net. His four shots on goal is the highest amount by any individal Beaver in a SCIAC game this season. Caltech's other four shots on net came from sophomore midfielder Theo Yang (Columbia, Md. / Long Reach), freshman defender Alfred Joseph (Tellakom, India / Lexington), junior midfielder Tristan Née (Carrollton, Texas / R.L. Turner) and sophomore midfielder Arjun Zutshi (Aurora, Ill. / Metea Valley).

Not to be outdone, the Caltech defense also had its moments. Freshman goalkeeper Joe Como (Glen Cove, N.Y. / Friends Acad.) made at least 10 saves for the third straight game. The Como-led Caltech defense also went its third straight game in giving up no more than three goals. The combination of defensive and offensive moments in the game helped keep the host Leopards (3-5-2 SCIAC) off-balance at times and resulted in a reasonable shot-on-goal differential. The Beavers came just five shots on target shy from matching the Leopards' total.

Head Coach Phil Murray and the Beavers will look to carry the positive vibes into Wednesday's bout with SCIAC foe Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges, a team which the Beavers pushed into extra time when they last met at North Field in September. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
