Johnson Scores again at Whittier

Box Score

WHITTIER, Calif. (Sept. 12. 2018) – Freshman midfielder Samir Johnson (Portland, Ore. / Jesuit) scored for a second consecutive game when the Caltech men's soccer team traveled to Whittier College on Wednesday evening.

Johnson is the first Caltech men's soccer player to score in consecutive games since Tristan Nee in 2016. The freshman's strike came in the 24th-minute off the ensuing rebound following a Caltech free kick that caught the crossbar. Johnson also accounted for two of the Beavers' five shots on goals, as did freshman defender Daniel Israel (San Jose, Calif. / Lynbrook). Sophomore forward Rohan Mirchandani (Pleasanton, Calif. / Foothill) had Caltech's fifth shot on net, while sophomore goalkeeper Joe Como (Glen Cove, N.Y. / Friends Acad.) reached double-digit saves for the third time this season, stopping 10 shots.

Head Coach Phil Murray and the Beavers will return to North Field on Friday, Sept. 14 for a 7 p.m. collision with the University of Redlands.
