Rock Impressive in Net Despite Defeat

Box Score

PASADENA (Mar. 16, 2019) – Caltech women's water polo received a handful of impressive individual performances despite suffering defeat to Pomona-Pitzer Colleges on Saturday evening.

Rookie Zoe Rock (Chappaqua, N.Y. / Horace Greeley) played a major role in net as she stopped nine shots – just one shy of her career high – to keep the high-powered Sagehens offense in relative check. Her particularly impressive third quarter allowed the Beavers to match the visitors with three goals apiece. Senior Katie Johnston (Livermore, Calif. / Livermore) netted the first of the period, followed by a second tally from freshman Sophie Devoe (La Jolla, Calif. / Bishop's) and capped with a long-range rocket by junior Samantha D'Costa (San Jose, Calif. / St. Francis).

Head Coach Jon Bonafede and the Beavers continue their four-game home stand against Occidental College on Wednesday, Mar. 20 at 7 p.m.
