Box Score CLAREMONT, Calif. (Oct. 2, 2021) – Caltech men's soccer played a hard-fought game at No. 21 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges, falling to the conference's elite squad on Saturday night.
The Beavers' chances were few and far between as CMS dominated possession to the tune of 14 shots on goal, though sophomore Derek Ing (Hong Kong / Hong Kong International School) did well to make eight saves amid the constant barrage. Junior Josh Finnerty (Walled Lake, Mich. / Detroit Catholic Central) and freshman Allen Yang (San Diego, Calif. / Del Norte) notched on-target efforts for Caltech against the run of play as the Stags broke through for their first goal in the 30th minute and registered another three scores in the next 12 before another pair of goals in the waning minutes of the game.
Head Coach Duncan Gillis and the Beavers will look to carry the experience gained from this game into hosting Chapman University on Wednesday, Oct. 6 at 4 p.m.
