Box Score THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. (Sep. 15, 2021) – Caltech men's soccer hit the road Wednesday night to open SCIAC play, facing a tough opponent in the California Lutheran University Kingsmen but putting up a commendable fight in a tough 1-0 defeat.
In stark contrast to their previous games played in blistering heat, rather than showing significant fatigue in the second half the Beavers stormed out of the gates in the second and visbly rode that building momentum throughout the hotly contested affair. The conference foes racked up a total of 21 fouls and five yellow cards in the chippy game, but Caltech's solid back line was effective at disrupting the threats they faced, holding Cal Lutheran to just three shots on goal.
Up front, senior forward Rohan Mirchandani (Pleasanton, Calif. / Foothill) applied the offensive pressure with a pair of shots, and freshman Andy Dimnaku (Wellesley, Mass. / Wellesley) looked dangerous on the attack with a shot on goal and another attempt in the final minutes.
The team's next match is on Saturday, September 18 at University of Redlands; kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m.
