TEMPE, Az. – For the first time in school history, the Caltech women's tennis team received a national
No. 16 ranking in the lastest polling by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA).
"This team is extra special, and I am honored to coach them in my first year at Caltech," Head Coach
Benay Weintraub remarked on the historic achievement. "Through support, dedication and resilience we have developed and excelled into a force among the best in Division III tennis."
Accompanying the national polls are the spring's first regional rankings, with Caltech taking the No. 5 team spot in the ITA West Region. The regional singles and doubles rankings were released as well, and junior
Emily Zhang received the No. 17 singles ranking with sophomore
Yoyo Benchetrit right behind her in the 18th spot.
"I'm very happy for Emily and Yoyo being recognized as some of the best talent in the West Region," Weintraub said. "Their incredible work ethic and competitive fire leads the team."
