BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — The Caltech women's water polo team and all 12 of its members earned ACWPC All-Academic distinction on Monday, the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches announced. The group as a whole was named to the team list; separately, every student-athlete on the squad received individual honors.
The Beavers achieved the team award by reaching a cumulative grade-point average (GPA) of 3.0 or higher. This year's group posted a team GPA of 3.53, putting them fifth among Division III programs and 13th among all ACWPC schools nationwide.
In addition to the team distinction, all 12 members of the team collected individual recognition for each attaining an overall cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher while having dressed for at least one contest.
Within the individual honors,
Ava Barbano and
Sophia Slora earned an "Excellent" distinction for scoring a GPA between 3.20 and 3.40, while
Elizabeth Field,
Emma Gurcan and
Amanda Piyapanee achieved "Superior" recognition for a GPA between 3.41 and 3.70. Seven Beavers —
Maya Dickson,
Tyler Fox,
Madelyn Gilbert,
Lana Lubecke,
Mia Mutadich,
Mahi Ravi and
Riya Shrivastava — attained the highest achievement, "Outstanding," for a GPA between 3.71 and 4.0.
In May, Fox and Shrivastava were named to College Sports Communicators'
2022-23 Academic All-District At-Large Team.
