TERRE HAUTE, Ind. — The Caltech men's cross country team took on the NCAA Division III Pre-Nationals Meet on Friday in Indiana, where the group finished 15th out of 46 teams behind an incredible individual performance from senior
Rohun Agrawal (Cupertino, Calif. / Monta Vista).
Caltech competed in the Men's 8000m Championship, which saw Agrawal earn an incredible 56th-place finish among 405 total athletes with a blazing time of 25:34.60. This was followed up by two other top-100 finishers in senior
Miles Jones (San Diego, Calif. / Rancho Bernardo) at 89th with a time of 26:00.94 and the first-year Beaver
Kyle Berkson (Salt Lake City / Olympus) moments later in 99th with a time of 26:07.01.
Rounding out the top five were rookie
Stephen Goehringer (Wellesley, Mass. / Wellesley), who crossed the line in 147th with a time of 26:33.90, and sophomore
Ryan Fortin (Londonderry, N.H. / Londonderry) who came in 155th with a time of 26:35.83.
In 176th was first-year
Jack Sullivan (Bethesda, Md. / Georgetown Preparatory) who finished at 26:48.11 before junior
Jacob Wolmer (Tenafly, N.J. / Tenafly) placed 194th with a time of 26:57.16. Sophomore
Colin La (Potomac, Md. / Winston Churchill) came across the line in 230th with a time of 27:17.43.
Caltech ran hard and finished well as a team en route to their 15th-place finish, topping multiple SCIAC foes and beating out a plethora of talented Div. III squads.
The race served as an important one for the program, who will hope to send Beavers to the NCAA National Championships this November where they would compete on the very same course.
