Caltech Cross Country emerged victorious in the women's event and achieved five top-five finishes between the men's and women's races at the Redlands Invitational Aug. 30.
The women's race featured a 4.5K course which Caltech runners completed in an average time of 18:32 to take first place as a team. Sophomore Katelyn Sadorf (Boca Raton, Fla. / Spanish River) led the charge, finishing in second place individually with an official time of 17:42.9. Remarkably, she crossed the line at the same moment as senior teammate Camilla Power (Edmonds, Wash. / Saint James), who officially took third place individually. First-year Raquel "Rocky" Lample (Encino, Calif. / Notre Dame HS) finished fifth (18:58.3) to round out the top-five finishes for the Caltech women.
On the men's side, first-year Aiden Cope finished third individually, as he and sophomore Stephen Goehringer (Wellesley, Mass. / Wellesley) crossed the line simultaneously after 19:24.2 of racing. They were two of just six runners in the race to average under 5:15.00 per mile. Goehringer officially took fourth place in the race.
Caltech Cross Country returns to action Sept. 20 in Santa Clarita at the Master's Invitational beginning at 8 a.m.
