Box Score CLAREMONT, Calif. – The Caltech women's water polo team hit the road for a Saturday morning contest against the high-powered Athenas of Claremont-Mudd-Scripps colleges.
Sophomore
Mia Mutadich (London, U.K. Notting Hill and Earling) struck first, opening up the scoring with a goal in the first minute of the game with an assist by
Lana Lubecke (Honolulu, Hawaii / Kalani), followed minutes later by another unassisted tally to tie the game at 2-2.
With just under three minutes to play in the opening quarter, the Beavers drew an exclusion and then
Ava Barbano (Carlsbad, Calif. / San Dieguito Academy) capitalized on the powerplay with a goal to tie it up again, 3-3.
CMS went on a tear lasting through most of the third quarter until senior
Tyler Fox (Cos Cob, Conn. / Greenwich) found the back of the net for the Beavers' fourth goal, and then Mutadich netted another in the final frame to seal her three-goal day.
