Caltech Women’s Tennis Earns ITA All-Academic Team Award, 11 Players Receive Scholar-Athlete

TEMPE, Ariz. — The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) released its 2024 ITA Division III Academic Awards on Wednesday, naming Caltech Women's Tennis to the All-Academic Team list and awarding 11 of its players as Scholar-Athletes.

The group obtained team recognition for posting a cumulative grade-point average of 3.2 or higher on a 4.00 scale.

Individually, 11 Beavers were named to the prestigious Scholar-Athlete list for achieving a grade-point average of at least 3.5 on a 4.00 scale.

First-years Ritali Jain (San Jose, Calif. / Evergreen Valley) and Hannah Ramsperger (Zürich / Realgymnasium Rämibühl Zürich) along with sophomore Anna Szczuka (Scotch Plains, N.J. / Scotch-Plains Fanwood) joined juniors Anika Arora (Fremont, Calif. / Mission San Jose), Yoyo Benchetrit (Toronto, Ont. / St. Clements), Payal Patel (Cumming, Ga. / South Forsyth), Grace Wilson (Alpharetta, Ga. / Forsyth Central) and seniors Beatriz Avila-Rimer (Spring, Texas / Klein), Halle Holzbauer (Torrance, Calif. / South), Athena Kolli (Buffalo Grove, Ill. / Adlai E. Stevenson) and Emily Zhang (Sharon, Mass. / Sharon) on the Scholar-Athlete list.

Arora, Benchetrit, Patel and Zhang received Academic All-District honors by College Sports Communicators this past May.

The awards come after a remarkable 2024 season from the squad on the court. In addition to earning a spot in the SCIAC Tournament semifinals, the Beavers collected four ranked wins and ranked as high as No. 27 nationally and No. 5 regionally. One Beaver attained a regional singles ranking while another was tabbed for All-SCIAC honors at the end of the season. The squad will bring back a significant number of returners in 2024-25 as they attempt to reach their third SCIAC playoff appearance in the last four seasons.
