PASADENA, Calif. — Caltech Athletics officially released the 2024 Volleyball schedule on Tuesday morning.

Head coach Tom Gardner and the program will battle a slew of strong nonconference opponents to begin the season before facing off against teams in the always-competitive Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC). The Beavers will look to top their 2023 season, which saw a number of impressive victories for the group, including four 3-0 sweeps and a thrilling 3-2 victory over Pomona-Pitzer at home.

Caltech will kick off the year with a pair of matches in San Dimas, where the group will take on Westcliff University on Saturday, Aug. 31 at 1 p.m. before facing the hosting Warriors of Life Pacific University at 3 p.m.

The Beavers will then return to Pasadena for their home opener against Simpson University on Saturday, Sep. 7, with action beginning at 11 a.m before Caltech faces Hope International University at 3 p.m later in the day.

From there, the group will hit the road again before returning home for a clash with West Coast Baptist College on Tuesday, Sep. 17 at 6 p.m as the team attempts to earn its ninth consecutive 3-0 victory over the Eagles — a flawless streak that began in 2016. Last year, the Beavers cruised to the straight-set victory on the road.

Another notable match on the schedule will occur on Saturday, Sep. 21 as the squad hosts crosstown foe Providence Christian College at 4 p.m. The Beavers have claimed three of their last four meetings with the Sea Beggars, with their most recent win coming in straight sets.

Caltech will begin conference play on the road as they play the University of La Verne Leopards on Friday, Sep. 27 at 7 p.m. The team will rest and recover that evening before competing in their conference home opener the following day as the University of Redlands Bulldogs come to Braun Gym for a 2 p.m. showdown on Saturday, Sep. 28. In 2023, the Beavers swept Redlands 3-0 in front of the Bulldogs' home fans.

The team will look to make it two-in-a-row against Pomona-Pitzer at home when the Sagehens come to Pasadena on Oct. 4 for a 7 p.m. battle. A year ago, the Beavers topped the visitors in five sets (25-20, 24-26, 21-25, 25-19, 15-9) in front of a passionate Braun Gym crowd.

Gardner's group will look to pick up a win against rival Occidental College on the road just one day later; action begins at 4 p.m. Caltech picked up a straight-set win over the Tigers one season ago; the Beavers have won four of the last five clashes between the programs. The teams will face off once more as Oxy comes to Pasadena on Saturday, Oct. 26 for a 6 p.m. match.

The program will compete in its final regular season home match on Friday, Nov. 8 at 7 p.m. as the Institute hosts La Verne.
