Caltech Men's Cross Country earned exceptional results at both the conference and national level in 2024-25, gathering momentum as the season progressed.
Caltech hit its stride Oct. 19 at the Pomona-Pitzer Invite, finishing in third place as a team behind only Claremont-Mudd-Scripps and Pomona-Pitzer. In so doing, the Beavers finished higher as a team than two other SCIAC schools. Junior Miles Jones (San Diego, Calif. / Rancho Bernardo), senior Rohun Agrawal (Cupertino, Calif. / Monta Vista) and first-year Stephen Goehringer (Wellesley, Mass. / Wellesley) all finished in the top 20 in the Men's 8k.
Agrawal and Jones each earned All-SCIAC and All-Region recognition for their incredible performances in 2024-25.
The Beavers carried their momentum into November when they finished third in the men's race at the SCIAC championships Nov. 2. Again, aside from Pomona-Pitzer and Claremont Mudd-Scripps – both of which would be competitive at the D-II level – Caltech finished higher than any other team in the conference. Agrawal was the top finisher for the Institute, placing ninth with a time of 25:05.06.
The institute found success on the national level at NCAA Regionals Nov. 16, placing 7th of 24 schools as a team. That result was the third-best in the conference, with the only two schools finishing ahead of the Beavers taking the top-two spots in the region. Agrawal continued his exceptional season, placing in the top 20 among 174 runners. Goehringer and Jones also finished in the top 40 runners.
By posting such eyebrow-raising results through the end of the season, the Beavers established themselves as one of the best teams in SCIAC moving into the 2025-26 season.
