On a sunny Tuesday afternoon in the final week of the 2009
season, two Caltech frosh decided to show their wares and each
dropped a goal on the visiting Golden Eagles of La Sierra
University. You may recall that back on September 21st the
Beavers fell to this same LSU team by a score of 1-0 at their
place, so it was time to return the favor. So today it was
all Caltech as frosh mid-fielder #3 Sarah
Wright (that's right Sarah, she is one of the three
women on the team as Caltech doesn't field women's soccer)
shot a laser of a set peice at the 41:13 minute mark to back
corner of the goal to put Caltech up 1-0. Coming out of
halftime with a 1-0 lead, the Beavers continued to run the pitch
and wear down their guests. At the 60:00 minute mark, fellow
frosh forward #23 Brice
Nzeukou dropped his set piece shot for goal number 2 which
ultimately put the Golden Eagles away. Beaver goalkeeper Marcus Lucas had 4 saves on the day for the exciting
Beaver victory. "Our team continues to respond and get
better, this is very rewarding for all of us" commented Coach
Uribe.
Caltech will put the wraps on the 2009 season when they take a
short roadie to Orange County for a rematch with SOKA University on
Thursday, 11/5 at 7pm.
GO TECH!!!
