The 2025 Div. III Academic All-District honors have been released by College Sports Communicators (CSC) and six members of the Caltech men's soccer team have achieved the recognition.
Senior
Etienne Casanova (San Jose, Calif. / Saratoga) is outstanding in the field. Throughout his athletic career in Caltech, Casanova has participated in 64 games, in which started 63 of them, has played a total of 5,142 minutes, made 35 goals, 18 assists, 196 shots, and 95 shots on goal. Outside the field, Casanova is majoring in Computer Science and minoring in Information and Data Science. He has interned with SpaceX, Netflix, and an AI startup called Olakai for software engineering.
Casanova is currently doing research on LLM behavior and Active Perception Research, while also applying to grad school to continue his stories on computer science with a focus in computer vision and AI.
Casanova has also been selected as a candidate for the CSC Academic-All America Teams and has advanced to the national ballot to be voted on by CSC members. The honorees will be announced on December 16th, 2025.
Senior
Wilson Duan (Foster City, Calif. / Aragon) made incredible achievements through his athletic career with the Beavers. Duan has participated in 50 games, in which started 48 of them, has played a total of 3,449 minutes, made 2 goals, 2 assists, 29 shots, and 15 shots on goal. Outside the field, Duan is majoring in Computer Science. He has interned with NASA, MemVerge and has performed a SURF at Caltech. Duan is currently taking classes such as Networks: Algorithm & Architecture, Chinese, Investments, and Virtual Reality. After graduation, Duan is expected to become a full-time employee at Databrinks.
Senior
Ishaan Mantripragada (Saratoga, Calif. / Harker School) is an amazing player for the Beavers. Through his athletic career in Caltech, he has participated in 59 games, in which started 57 of them, has played a total of 4,183 minutes, made 30 goals, 11 assists, 171 shots, and 91 shots on goal. Outside the field, Mantripragada is majoring in Computer Science and minoring in Information and Data Science. He has interned with LinkedIn, Balbix, and has performed a SURF research at Stanford about improving Phase Contrast MRI reconstruction using deep learning. One of Mantripragada's proudest achievements has been creating a mobile app called RankleAI, which allows users to rank items they love in a fun, gamified way. After graduation, Mantripragada plans to work at LinkedIn and continue developing his mobile app.
Junior
Bryan Kim (Los Altos, Calif. / Mountain View) is a spectacular player. Throughout his athletic career, Kim has participated in 30 games, in which started 9 of them, has played a total of 1,259 minutes, made 1 assist, and 9 shots on goal. Outside the field, Kim is majoring in Computer Science and minoring in Aerospace Engineering. Kim has been interning at Lockheed Martin for the last four years. His proudest achievement is completing a satellite recovery system, where he was able to present it to teams, managers, and VPs. During the quarter, Kim is taking a set of mechanical engineering core classes.
Junior
Ethan Hamel (Portola Valley, Calif. / Woodside) is an exceptional goalkeeper for the Beavers. Hamel has participated in a total of 38 games, in which started 35 of them, has played a total of 2,265 minutes, and has saved 130 goals. Outside the field, Hamel is majoring in Applied Physics. He has completed a SURF research program. Some of his accomplishments include being accepted to the Lawrence Berkeley National Lab Experiences in Research paid internship, where he had the opportunity to research an application that allows non-coding scientists to analyze electron microscopy images stored in datasets within complex hierarchical file formats.
Junior
Riley Coover (Orinda, Calif. / Miramonte) is a great player that has been crucial for the Beavers. Throughout his athletic career, Coover has participated and started in 44 games, has played for 3,749 minutes, made 3 shots, and 2 shots on goals. Outside the field, Coover is majoring in Computer Science. He has interned at Groove Synthesis, where he created a pitch detection algorithm, and conducted research with UCSD post-doc on the topics of DSP and AI.
The six Beavers maintained a grade average of 3.50 or higher, in addition to having played in 90 percent of Caltech's matches or started in at least 66 percent of them to earn the nod.
