United Soccer Coaches has bestowed senior Etienne Casanova (Saratoga, Calif. / Saratoga) of Caltech Men's Soccer with Scholar All-Region honors, by virtue of maintaining a high GPA, playing in at least 75 percent of the team's total games and earning elite athletic honors at a conference level or higher.

Casanova was recently earned Academic All-District recognition by College Sports Communicators. The Computer Science major has interned with SpaceX and Netflix, among others. He hopes to pursue a focus on computer vision and AI in grad school. Casanova previously worked to build an app that gives a smoke forecast on the west coast, helping pilots to avoid smoke from fires and the decreased visibility that comes with them. 

The senior midfielder has been racking up postseason accolades of late. In November he was named to the All-SCIAC First Team. Earlier this month he was named to the United Soccer Coaches All-Region team.
