#10 Cal Lutheran Sweeps SCIAC Games from Caltech

THOUSAND OAKS, CA – The Cal Lutheran baseball team took a pair of games in a SCIAC doubleheader of Caltech on Saturday afternoon at Ullman Stadium.

The wins kept the Kingsmen atop of the league standings and help solidify their top 10 national ranking.

Game One – CLU 14, Caltech 4 (Box Score)

Similar to Friday's single game the Kingsmen offense started strong. The home team plated two runs in the first inning then six in the second inning as they built an 8-0 lead.

Caltech got a pair of runs on the board in the third inning. Ryan Casey scored the first run on a Blaine Matulevich fielder's choice. The second run was scored on a double steals as Matulevich stole second while Will Dooris stole home in taking making the score 8-2.

The Kingsmen took a 10-4 lead in the fourth inning when Jake Peterson and Trevor Koons crossed the plate. Caltech scored their final two runs in the game when Jerome Skelly doubled home Albie Lavin and Daniel Chou.

Cal Lutheran put the game away with four runs in the seventh inning to seal the win.

Eight different players had a hit for Caltech while Chou pitched his third complete game of the season.

Game Two – CLU 17, Caltech 0 (Box Score)

The Kingsmens scored 10 runs in the first inning and never looked back in posting the sweep.

During their big opening frame the home team pieced together seven hits, with five of them going for extra bases. That first inning was more than enough for the home team.

Jerome Skelly and Daniel Chou each pieced together multi-hit games for the Beavers.
