Sagehens Offense Produces Win

PASADENA, CA – A strong hitting attack help pace the Pomona-Pitzer baseball team to an 11-1 win over Caltech on Tuesday afternoon.

The Sagehens pounded out 13 hits, six of which went for extra bases, in recording the seven inning victory.

Pomona-Pitzer scored four runs in the first inning then two in the second inning to open up an early 6-0 advantage. The visitors plated a run in the fourth inning then put a four spot on the scoreboard in the sixth inning to round out their scoring.

Caltech's run came in the sixth inning when Daniel Chou singled home Blaine Matulevich.

Erik Munzer had a productive day at the plate as he went 4-for-5 with three RBI's and three runs scored. E.J. Lopez also drove in three runs while going 2-for-4.

The trio of Sagehen pitchers held the Caltech offense to three hits while striking out 10.

Matulevich, Chou and Brian Penserni, the Beavers one through three hitters, each had a base knock for the home team.

Caltech travels to Occidental on Saturday for a 3 p.m. first-pitch with the Tigers.
