Late Inning Scoring Aids Occidental to Win

LOS ANGELES, CA - The Occidental baseball team used a six-run seventh inning to help seal a 10-3 win over Caltech on Saturday afternoon.

Caltech got on the board when Albie Lavin crossed the plate in the second inning. Occidental took the lead with a two-run third inning. Pedro Aldape hit a two-out single that scored a pair of runs that gave the home team the edge.

In the fifth inning the Tigers added two more runs to up their lead to 4-1. Caltech got a run back when Brian Penserini scored on a Lavin ground out in the sixth inning.

Occidental put the game away when they strung together eight hits and took advantage of a Beaver error during their six-run seventh inning.

The final Beaver run came when Ryan Casey hit a sacrifice fly in the ninth inning that scored Lavin.

Lavin was 1-for-2 with two runs scored and an RBI.

Caltech's final road game of the season is Sunday afternoon at Cal Lutheran.
