TUCSON, AZ - When the dust finally settled in Macalester's 20-16 win over Caltech, it was one for the memory banks and record books.

The Beavers 16 runs was the most a Caltech squad has scored since the 1996 season when they scored 24 in a win over Cal State Maritime. Caltech banged out 24 hits - also the most since that game in 1996.

A host of players had multi-hit games and set personal best marks. Thomas Kwok lead the squad with a 5-for-6 afternoon with three runs scored and two stolen bases. His five hits were the most a Caltech player has had since an April 23, 1999 game against Redlands.

Five players had three hits for the Beavers. Daniel Chou, Tim Menninger and Albie Lavin all had three hits in five at-bats. Jared Reed and John Galden both went 3-for-6 at the plate.

Oliver Curtiss went 2-for-4 while playing second base for the first time in his collegiate career. The junior hit his first career triple and drove-in four runs.

The game played out in an odd fashion as Caltech scored five runs to start the game in the top of the first inning. Unfortunately the Mighty Macs responded with 12 runs in their half of the first inning.

Caltech got within four runs twice at 16-12 and then at 20-16 but couldn't get any closer.
