Box Score 2 PASADENA, Calif. (Feb. 5, 2022) – The Caltech baseball team dropped the final two games of its three-game, nonconference series against Providence Christian at home on Saturday.
Despite game one's 9-2 defeat, junior Will Dembski (Pella, Iowa / Pella Christian) went 3 for 5 with singles in each of the first, third and seventh innings. With two runners on base in the bottom of the first inning, sophomore Leo Jenkins (New York, N.Y. / Beacon) hit a single to left center to drive in a run. In the bottom of the fifth, senior Ryan Ruscansky (Annandale, N.J. / North Hunterdon) threatened to score again with a triple to centerfield, but it would not be until the next frame that rookie Thorsen Kristufek (McKinney, Texas / McKinney) launched his first career home run over the left field fence for the Beavers' other score.
During the 11-5 decider in game two, Dembski, senior Spiro Stameson (Newport Beach, Calif. / Newport Harbor) and Kristufek all notched a hit, with Knufstroking a double to center in the fourth inning and bringing in two runs for the Beavers. Later in the seventh, sophomore Kyle Reese (Sammamish, Wash. / Winward School) batted in one run with a single to right field.
The Beavers will host Lewis & Clark College (Portland, Ore.) in a four-game series, starting Friday, Feb. 11. The first pitch is slated for 2 p.m.
