LAGUNA NIGUEL, Calif. — Sophomore center
Bram Schork of the Caltech men's water polo team received Second Team All-Conference honors for his strong play in 2023,
the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) announced on Friday.
With a roster made up of nine first-years, one other sophomore and no upperclassmen, Schork played an integral role in the team's success this fall. The captain led the young squad to five strong wins, including
a 6-5 victory over Whittier College on Nov. 4.
This season, Schork scored the second-most goals in the entire conference (88) in addition to nabbing the second-most steals (45). The Pennsylvania native also finished tied for fourth in total points (91); he was third when considering steals on a per-game basis.
The star's 45 steals gives Schork the program record for steals in a season. The sophomore smashed the previous record of 35, set in 2015.
Additionally, the center broke the school's single-season exclusions drawn record; Schork drew 40 calls to topple the previous mark of 35. He also tied the single-game goals record (12) in a
huge 16-6 win over Crafton Hills College on Oct. 16.
Schork recorded a stellar shot percentage (.379) across his 23 games played this year.
The all-conference recipient and the rest of the young roster will recover from the season before looking to take another step up in 2024.
