Solgaard of Caltech Women's Soccer Receives All-SCIAC Honors

LAGUNA NIGUEL, Calif. — Junior forward Jennifer Solgaard of Caltech Women's Soccer was named Second Team All-Conference on Wednesday for her excellent play in 2023, the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) announced.

The standout logged an exceptional season for the Beavers as she led the team with nine points, scoring three goals and registering three assists.

Solgaard played a vital role in the team's opening matchup against Linfield University on Sep. 1 as she scored the Beavers' game-tying goal in the 79th minute in what was an impressive 1-1 draw. The star also helped the Beavers to an monumental 2-2 draw against rival Occidental College in the Beavers' final contest of the season as she earned the first goal of the day in the 11th minute.

With that goal, the Palo Alto native became the program's all-time leader in career goals scored, with 11. Just a junior, the forward will look to add to her total next fall.

Solgaard finished in the top ten in points as well as assists among all players in the conference.

Head coach Emmy Meyring was pleased to see the striker receive the distinction after a historic season.

"I'm proud to see all of her hard work pay off," said Meyring. "I'm very excited to see what she does next year."

This the fifth straight season in which a member of the Caltech women's soccer team has been named to an All-SCIAC team; the program's inaugural 2017 campaign serves as the only season in which a Beaver was not awarded the honor.
