PASADENA, Calif. — After posting
its most successful season in program history last year, Caltech Women's Soccer will bring in nine new players from the class of 2027 as the team takes on competition this fall.
The crew of first-years will join a large group of returning players who last year helped the team to its highest-ever single-season win total. The squad earned incredible victories over Park, Wentworth, Occidental and La Verne in addition to picking up five strong draws against formidable opponents.
Under the leadership of head coach Emmy Meyring, the Beavers will face several nonconference foes before facing teams in the ever-competitive Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC).
Meet the newest members of Caltech Women's Soccer:
Cupertino, Calif. / Monta Vista
Club: De Anza Force
After playing for a historically accomplished club team, Baxter will join the Beaver roster with the ability to create offense and move the ball. A forward, the California native is interested in studying computer science at Caltech.
Barrington, R.I. / Barrington
Club: South Shore Select
Choi-Schattle will take on the pitch at the center midfield position before the multi-faceted athlete joins the Caltech Track & Field team in the spring. The New England native is looking to pursue mechanical engineering at the Institute.
San Ramon, Calif.
Club: San Ramon FC
Gardner comes to Caltech as a goalkeeper with quick reflexes and great blocking abilities. She is interested in studying chemistry, biology and planetary science.
Miami, Fla. / Archmidean
Club: SK Sunblazer
An outside back, the Florida native will bring smarts and toughness to the Beavers' squad. Jaramillo will pursue bioengineering in the fall.
San Diego / Canyon Crest Academy
Club: SDSC Surf
Kuester will play at the center midfield position this fall before joining Choi-Schattle on the track in the spring. The standout is interested in studying bioengineering at the Institute.
Mountain View / Harker
Club: Mountain View Los Altos
A versatile defender, Pasupathy will bring a great deal of experience as she travels from NorCal to SoCal for her first collegiate season.
Bellevue / Bellevue
Club: Portland Thorns Academy
An attacking center midfielder/forward, Wei-Navarro brings impressive club experience to a team looking to continue its rise. The incoming first-year is interested in studying bioengineering.
Las Vegas / Coronado
Club: Heat FC
A talented midfielder, Yap comes to Pasadena with speed and a variety of skills. Yap is interested in pursuing bioengineering upon her arrival in the fall.
South Pasadena, Calif. / South Pasadena
Club: Beach FC
Yamada comes to the Institute with lots of local experience and should immediately contribute to the team's success in her first collegiate season. The newcomer is looking to pursue bioengineering and ethics.
The nine rookies will join a host of important returners as the program looks to not only replicate its recent success but take another significant step forward.
Action kicks off on
Friday, Sep. 1 at 10:30 a.m. as the Beavers host Linfield University at home on North Field. Support the team in-person or tune into the match on the
SCIAC Network.
