Caltech Men's Basketball Welcomes Class of 2029

Four Incoming First-Years Look to Add Depth and Versatility to Beaver Basketball

The Caltech Men's Basketball team will add four newcomers to the roster this season as the Beavers look ahead to their 2025-26 campaign.

At the helm for his 18th season as Caltech Men's Basketball, Head Coach Dr. Oliver Eslinger and staff hold a promising outlook for the Class of 2029. The Beavers add a robust first-year group to an already young squad featuring three sophomores, four juniors, and one senior.

"We are very excited for this class," said Eslinger. "These four players as a collective bring so much versatility, tenacity, and length."

Finnegan Fancher (Ventura, Calif. / Ventura High), Ido Geffen (Wayland, Mass. / Wayland High), Dorian Glogovac (Port Moody, B.C. / St. George's) and Ryan Rodrigue (Rancho Sante Fe, Calif. / Sante Fe Christian) will join the Beavers next season.

Meet the newest members of Caltech Men's Basketball:

Finnegan Fancher shoots a free throw from a close-up angle in a white jersey. His arms are extended and the bottom half of the ball is visible at the top of the frame. Only the "ARS" lettering, the rightmost yellow letters of his team's mascot are visible. Perhaps the full word is "Cougars" but its unclear. Finnegan Fancher, 6'9" forward

A post player with the soft-touch and handles of a guard, "Finn" brings a rare and dynamic set of skills to Pasadena, showcased by posting a triple-double (12-15-10) as a senior. The team captain averaged 12.5 points over his three years on varsity, scored a season-high 32 points against Crescenta Valley and averaged 1.3 blocks per game. Finn earned First Team All-Channel League honors three consecutive years. As a senior, he played his way onto the All-Ventura County and All-CIF Second Teams.

"Finn is a do-it-all kind of player with good bounce, floor-spacing skills, and a keen eye for the game," Eslinger raved.

Ido Geffen, in a white jersey with "Wayland" written in red across the chest, elevates after contact with a defender in a black jersey with the ball held underhanded in his right hand under the basket. The defender, either number 1 or number 4 it seems, but probably the former, has begun to fall backward from the contact with the much larger Geffen, his size exaggerated by his vertically extended posture in the air. Ido Geffen, 6'4" guard

Ido is a highly skilled and athletic combo guard with a knack for attacking the rim and creating shots off the dribble. Named to multiple player of the week publications as a junior and senior, his court vision and length provide opportunities to play as a guard and wing. At Wayland, Ido was a consistent double-figure scorer and a four-year varsity player, senior captain, and a Boston Globe and Herald Dual County League All-Star.

"Ido has some kick and pizazz to his game, and he can penetrate the paint with shiftiness and stick the three,"  said Eslinger.

Dorian Glogovac, in a red jersey with the white #1 beneath white "George's" lettering, is airborne just before he releases a fadeaway jumper from the freethrow line. A defender in a white jersey wearing the red number "13" has just lifted off the ground, muscles straining to stop his momentum towards the basket as he points an outstretched arm towards the face of Glogovac. Dorian Glogovac 6'6" guard

Dorian is a dangerous scoring threat and all-around talent who comes to Caltech as the MVP of British Columbia's Quad-A basketball championships, where his 53-point performance in the Final Four set a new provincial record. One of the most prolific shot makers in Canada, He will be playing with the Serbian National Team this summer. Dorian possesses a wide array of scoring tools and has elite court sense. In his senior season at St. George's he averaged 38 points, 16 rebounds and three assists per game.

"Dorian is an excellent player from all over the court, and brings exceptional shooting and an advanced feel for the game," Eslinger said.

Ryan Rodrigue sits at a table signing his commitment presumable to Caltech, as he is wearing an orange Caltech hoodie. Behind him, a white backround with "SFC" written in red in a repeating pattern provides the branded backdrop for his media photos. Rodrigue's family (presumably) stands behind him. Ryan Rodrigue, 6'3" wing

Ryan is a standout athlete with a persistent motor who will compete at Caltech as a dual athlete in track & field and basketball. Ryan graduates from high school as the San Diego Scholar-Athlete of the Year and a key cog on his CIF Open tourney team, averaging 7 points and 4 rebounds per contest as a senior. On the track, he holds school records in the 400m, 4x400m, and 4x800m, where he was the CIF Open champion.

"Ryan is the kind of player who never gets tired, will defend full court, and finds sneaky ways to score," Eslinger noted.

With such notable incoming talent, 2025-26 is shaping up to be an exciting season for Caltech Men's Basketball. A full season schedule will be released in the coming weeks.
